Native, understory tree that can be difficult to establish in our area, but the unique tropical appearance and highly sought-after fruit make them cherished by many. Seedlings establish best in shaded, moist areas but once mature, full sun is preferred. Two or more is required for fruit production. The sweet, custard-like fruit is 2.5 to 6 inches long and eaten by people and wildlife.
