Native, relatively small, deciduous, understory tree or shrub in the rose family, so the emerald ash borer will not target it. Typically found in the mountains around rock outcrops. Prefers moist, rich, acidic, well-drained soils in full sun but tolerates partial shade. Clusters of showy white flowers, compound leaves, and persistent berries make this a great ornamental tree, pollinator, and songbird favorite.
