Stream Restoration

County Stream Initiative Program

The 2021 application period has closed.

The Bradford County Commissioners and Conservation District created the County Stream Initiative Program in 2016 for residents and businesses that are seeking assistance in addressing stream erosion problems. Applications will be taken at the Conservation District office when the application period is open.

To be considered eligible, the stream must be threatening a structure (i.e. imminent danger to a home, business, utility, etc.) Conservation District staff will visit each site to collect preliminary data and rank projects for the limited funding.
Emergency Stream Intervention Pilot Program
This program was developed in 2016 for municipal equipment operators and contractors to provide environmentally-friendly, post-flood stream response for compromised channel capacity due to deposition, in-channel debris issues and corrective measures for stream avulsions. The program was designed for immediate post-flood corrective action or triage by local municipalities, working with the stream’s natural tendencies while protecting aquatic habitat.

To be considered eligible to perform work under this program, the contractor or municipality must complete a three-day course provided by the Conservation District. For more information on the ESI program contact Joe Quatrini at 570-485-3138.
